Backary Manneh murdered Joseph Aaku 28 who he stabbed at 10 Oakley Square, London on 4 January 1952.

After  the murder Backary Manneh ran off and was not found until later after he went to the hospital with a wound caused in the struggle. Police later determined that he had stolen a gold watch from Joseph Aaku that he later pawned and when recovered was shown to have Joseph Aaku's blood on it.
